JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Jacksonville State's John Grass isn't dwelling on history. He'd rather repeat it.

The first-year head coach inherits a team that went to the FCS quarterfinals and is predicted to win the Ohio Valley Conference with preseason All-OVC picks at both quarterback and tailback. The Gamecocks are ranked as high as sixth in preseason polls.

Grass says those predictions are all based on "what the 2013 team did" and this year's Gamecocks haven't done anything yet.

He was offensive coordinator on last year's team that broke 49 school records. Eli Jenkins is a preseason All-OVC quarterback, but two others have started multiple games and Christian LeMay transferred from Georgia.

Running back DaMarcus James is the preseason OVC offensive player of the year after running for a league-record 29 touchdowns.
