ATHENS, Greece (AP) — PAOK took the lead in the Greek football playoffs after beating Panathinaikos 1-0 on a goal from Dimitris Salpingidis on Thursday.
The Greece international scored against his old club in the 32nd minute to put PAOK on seven points, midway through the six-round playoffs that will decide Europa League places and a spot in a Champions League qualifier.
AEK Athens follows with six points after beating Atromitos 3-2, while Panathinaikos has five, despite starting with a four-point advantage over the other clubs as the league runner-up to champion Olympiakos.
Atromitos is last with two points.
