COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Grayson Greiner is getting another chance to be America's catcher.

South Carolina's sophomore catcher has been invited to be part of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. The invitation was announced Wednesday. Greiner was supposed to play for the team a year ago, but couldn't take part as he recovered from a knee injury.

Training for the team will take place from June 21 to July 2 at the USA Baseball national training complex in Cary, N.C. The team will travel to Japan from July 6-11. It's also scheduled to play Cuba from July 18-23 in various U.S. cities.

Greiner is hitting .307 with three homers and 28 RBIs in 36 games this season. He's a candidate for the Johnny Bench Award, given to the best catcher in college baseball.
