PURCELL - Until Tuesday, Rebecca DeMauro never had spoken to Curtis Bolin. But all too well, she knows the horror he is living.

DeMauro knows the stupor of going days without sleep, and the way friends treat you almost like a freak because they don't know what to say.

Mostly, she knows the unrelenting anguish Bolin has felt since learning of his daughter's murder, and the even worse pain he will experience today when she is buried.

That's why she drove to Purcell from her Tulsa home to volunteer her services as a grief counselor. She returned home Tuesday night and pieced together family photos and keepsakes for a video to be shown at Jamie Rose Bolin's memorial service.

DeMauro's 12-year-old daughter, Andi Brewer, was murdered in 1999 and, like Jamie, was missing for two days before her body was found.

Authorities say both were killed by someone close, either by relation or by proximity. Andi's uncle, Karl Brewer, is on Arkansas' death row for the girl's abduction, rape and murder.

Purcell investigators say Kevin Ray Underwood, who lived downstairs from Jamie and her father, confessed to killing her in his apartment April 12 as part of a cannibalistic plot.

Underwood, 26, was charged Monday with first-degree murder. Prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty.
