"It's just always been the Grimmett brothers,” Nick said. "We've kind of been one person.

"It's good to get apart a little bit.”

So when it came time for the baseball-playing pair to decide where to go to college, the two went different directions.

Nick, the hitter, liked Connors State. Zack, the pitcher, liked Seminole.

"He liked Connors better and I liked Seminole better,” said Zack, who is actually a triplet along with Nick and sister Bailey. "And part of it is we were tired of always being Nick and Zack, Nick and Zack.

"It wasn't because we got tired of each other or anything like that. We just wanted to be out on our own.”

So now they are.

Nick is in the Oklahoma City area, playing summer baseball and getting ready to head off to Connors State next month.

Zack is several hundred miles away after deciding to give professional baseball a try after getting drafted by the Houston Astros. He's started working his way up the system, playing in Greeneville, Tenn.

"It's just like how I thought it would be,” Zack said. "All of the hitters are better but I knew that's how it was going to be.”

And the experience of being away from home for the summer has been a help to Nick as well.

"It's been a lot of fun,” Nick said. "I've learned a lot and gotten a little bit more maturity being alone this summer. It's been a great experience and I'm ready for college.”
