MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies will hold their first week of training camp in Nashville as the new owners try to expand the fan base coming off the team's first Western Conference final.
The Grizzlies announced Friday that they will hold media day in Memphis on Sept. 30. Then they will relocate to Nashville where they will open training camp for the first time since the franchise moved to Tennessee.
Memphis will work at Memorial Gym at Vanderbilt starting Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Grizzlies will relocate to the Ensworth School for an open practice Oct. 5 when Vanderbilt hosts Missouri in football.
The Grizzlies have held training camp in Memphis nine years, though they went to Birmingham, Ala., in 2009. They open the preseason Oct. 7 against Chicago in St. Louis.
