Attorney and author Bob Burke said he tries to write a chapter every morning before he heads to court.

During the last 21 years, Burke has written nearly 100 historical books.

He estimates he spends about 25 hours a week working on books about prominent Oklahomans and their life stories.

"I just love sharing the Oklahoma story,” Burke said.

On Wednesday, Burke will become the first recipient of the Lee Allan Smith Oklahoma Legacy Award during the Oklahoma Heritage Association’s annual awards presentation. The awards recognize individuals and organizations that are committed to preserving Oklahoma’s history and culture.

The Lee Allan Smith Oklahoma Legacy Award was established this year to honor someone who has worked to grow pride in the community for future generations, said Erin Page, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Heritage Association.

The award is special to Burke because he helped write Smith’s biography, called "Lee Allan Smith: Oklahoma’s Best Friend.
