A quick, easy and free guide to find mental health therapists and services was launched today by the Mental Health Association of Central Oklahoma and the United Way of Central Oklahoma. The comprehensive online guide is www.mentalhealthok.org.
It offers a simplified search for those seeking mental health assistance, local resources and care providers, officials said.
"We want services available to people who need them. We want to help people find a mental health professional to fit their situation," said Rhonda Hellstern, executive director of the mental health association.
"Mental health is often misunderstood. Simplifying the process of understanding issues and finding care resources is a critical step in improving our community's overall health," she said. "The guide offers central Oklahomans an all-in-one location to find help."
The guide includes information on mental health terms, types of treatment and advice on choosing a mental health professional.
