Guick guide to Enid at Edmond Memorial

by Jacob Unruh Modified: September 13, 2013 at 1:05 pm •  Published: September 13, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Wantland Stadium, Edmond

Last week: Choctaw 41, Enid 28; Edmond Memorial 13, Edmond North 0

Players to watch: Enid — Alex Lofton, WR. Lofton is the younger brother of former Oklahoma standout and current NFL linebacker Curtis Lofton. Last week he only had one reception for 13 yards, but last year led the team with 19.7 yards per reception.

Edmond Memorial — Warren Wand, RB. Last week he rushed for more than 150 yards but did not score a touchdown. At some point he’ll start finding the end zone.

Storylines: Enid — The Plainsmen turned the ball over twice in their own territory last week, resulting in touchdowns by Choctaw. Giving a short field to Memorial would be disastrous if that trend continues.

Edmond Memorial — Can the defense keep playing at the high level? Last week the Bulldogs shut down Edmond North completely. Enid may present new challenges, though, as quarterback Freddy Lawrence settled in during the second half last week and running back Raheem Mitchell totaled more than 200 yards and one TD.

The pick: Edmond Memorial 24, Enid 17
