Guide to Edlam: No. 10 Edmond Santa Fe at No. 9 Edmond Memorial

by Jacob Unruh Modified: November 1, 2013 at 10:15 am •  Published: November 1, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Wantland Stadium, UCO

Records: Edmond Santa Fe 5-3, 3-2 District 6A-4; Edmond Memorial 5-3, 3-2

Last week: Norman 28, Edmond Santa Fe 14; Southmoore 17, Edmond Memorial 3

Players to watch: Edmond Santa Fe — Cameron Westbrook, Ath. Westbrook has been an unsung hero this season for the Wolves, quietly scoring touchdowns and making big plays. He started the season opener at quarterback when Justice Hansen was out with a hamstring injury, he then moved back to running back and now he is starting in the slot position.

Edmond Memorial — LaManuel Singleton, DE. The junior has been steadily improving this season and after watching Norman have its way up front last week against Santa Fe, the Bulldogs’ defensive line is ready to see what damage it can do.

Storylines: Edmond Santa Fe — The Wolves need to find a way to win without Hansen, who is doubtful to play with a high ankle sprain. So far they are 0-3 without the Oklahoma commitment, and if that trend continues they could miss the playoffs all together.

Edmond Memorial — A win keeps the Bulldogs’ hopes for a first-round playoff game at Wantland alive, and one year after squeaking into the playoffs that’s quite an accomplishment. A big reason has been the improved defense, which has a chance to shine once again.

Bonuses: Check out my story this week on Edmond Santa Fe’s Michael Farmer here and my story on Edmond Memorial’s improved defense here.

The pick: Edmond Memorial 21, Edmond Santa Fe 17
