Guide to Edmond North at Midwest City

by Jacob Unruh Modified: November 1, 2013 at 9:15 am •  Published: November 1, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Rose Field

Records: Edmond North 5-3, 4-1 District 6A-3; Midwest City 6-2, 3-2

Last week: Edmond North 49, Moore 13; Midwest City 12, Yukon 9

Players to watch: Edmond North — Ezel McIntee, RB. McIntee had a huge game last week, rushing for five touchdowns. He will need to be solid against the Bombers’ stout defense, avoiding turnovers and keeping the chains moving.

Midwest City — Will Sunderland, FS. The junior already has offers from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, and for good reason. He already has 73 tackles and five interceptions. Sunderland is the leader of the defense and is full of big plays when it matters most.

Storylines: Edmond North — A win doesn’t decide the district championship, but it puts the Huskies one step closer with U.S. Grant as the regular-season finale. Right now, Edmond North is tied with Putnam North and Norman North for first in the district, but leads the point tiebreaker by a healthy margin.

Midwest City — The Bombers need to win out to guarantee a playoff spot one year after missing out on the postseason. A loss won’t eliminate them, but if that happens and both Yukon and Lawton Eisenhower win things get interesting with a three-way tie for the final spot entering Week 10.

The pick: Edmond North 10, Midwest City 7
