When: 7 p.m., Friday
Where: Rose Field
Records: Edmond Santa Fe 6-4, 4-3 District 6A-4 (third; Midwest City 8-2, 5-2 District 6A-3 (second)
Last week: Edmond Santa Fe 55, Choctaw 30; Midwest City 36, Moore 0
Players to watch: Edmond Santa Fe — Keaton Torre, QB. The offense now officially belongs to the talented sophomore and he could be settling in after throwing for two touchdown passes last week. He and Oklahoma commitment Justice Hansen missed the first meeting between these teams (a Midwest City 3-0 victory) and some believe at least having Torre could have changed the outcome.
Midwest City — Will Sunderland, S. The rising star made a huge play in the first meeting, preventing a touchdown at the goal line that proved the difference. He has been the anchor for the Bombers’ stingy defense and could be needed for another huge play.
Storylines: Edmond Santa Fe — The Wolves feel fortunate to be in the playoffs, but they also feel disappointment for their position. They are starting to get their footing after losing Hansen for the season and this could be a game that they pull an upset and get back on track.
Midwest City — The Bombers were able to load the box and go after the run in the first meeting, but they won’t be able to this time against Torre. How will they adjust to a better offense than they previously faced?
Bonus: My good friend Scott Wright wrote a great story on Midwest City’s Beau Butler and his grandfather Jim Darnell, the legendary Midwest City coach. Check it out here.
The pick: Midwest City 15, Edmond Santa Fe 13
