When: 7 p.m., Friday
Where: Deer Creek High School
TV: Cox 3
Radio: KTOK-AM 1000
Records: McGuinness 5-4, 4-2 District 5A-2; Deer Creek 6-3, 4-2
Players to watch: McGuinness — The offensive and defensive lines. The Irish are bigger up front, which has been a problem for the smaller Antlers all season. Carl Albert and Guthrie both exposed that in big victories.
Deer Creek — Marcus Coleman, RB. The Antlers will need to have success running the ball to help keep the pressure off quarterback Caden Sander. It’s also unclear how much, if any, running back Alec James will be able to play after suffering a leg injury two weeks ago.
Bonus: Check out this video on Deer Creek coach Grant Gower and his teaching methods. It’s worth your time.
Storylines: McGuinness — After starting the season 0-2, the Irish have a chance to redeem themselves with a win that locks up third place in the district.
Deer Creek — After winning the district title last season, things haven’t gone as well this season for the Antlers. Third place, though, would be a nice consolation for them after having to rebuild from the loss of so many seniors.
The pick: Deer Creek 28, McGuinness 24
