Guide to No. 1 Blanchard at Mount St. Mary

by Jacob Unruh Modified: October 25, 2013 at 2:10 pm •  Published: October 25, 2013

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Mount St. Mary

Records: Blanchard 7-0, 4-0 District 3A-1; Mount St. Mary 3-4, 1-2

Last week: Blanchard 21, Jones 7; Mount St. Mary 48, OKC Patriots 8

Players to watch: Blanchard — Braden Stringer, RB. Stringer has averaged three touchdowns per game this season and already has 1,645 yards on 153 carries. He’ll be a big part of the offense against Mount St. Mary.

Mount St. Mary — Matt Peace, QB. Peace scored a touchdown on both sides of the ball last week, helping the Rockets to a big non-district win to end a two-game skid.

Storylines: Blanchard — Coach Jeff Craig wasn’t all that pleased with the Lions’ offense last week and will look for better execution this week. Some of the struggles last week were because of Jones, but some were self inflicted and could easily be corrected.

Mount St. Mary — Find a way to slow down Stringer. Blanchard showed an inability to pass the ball last week, leaving it vulnerable to a secondary like Mount St. Mary’s, which had four interceptions last week.

The pick: Blanchard 35, Mount St. Mary 14
