Guide to No. 10 McGuinness at No. 6 Ardmore

by Jacob Unruh Modified: November 15, 2013 at 1:10 pm •  Published: November 15, 2013

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Ardmore High School

Records: McGuinness 6-4, 5-2 District 5A-2 (third); Ardmore 8-2, 6-1 District 5A-1 (seoncd)

Last week: McGuinness 56, Deer Creek 21; Lawton MacArthur 30, Ardmore 22

Players to watch: McGuinness — Jacob Lewis, QB. The senior accounted for eight touchdowns last week — earning The Oklahoman’s Player of the Week honors — and has stifled the turnover bug that plagued him early in the season.

Ardmore — Jarred Hall, QB. Hall led a comeback that fell just short last week against Lawton MacArthur. What does he have in store for the Irish?

Storylines: McGuinness — Was last week’s win one that could propel the Irish in the playoffs? McGuinness has a similar feel to Carl Albert last season, overcoming a slow start to get hot in the playoffs.

Ardmore — Slow down Lewis. Deer Creek didn’t have an answer for the dual-threat QB, but the Tigers have a stronger defense that can limit him.

The pick: Ardmore 21, McGuinness 20
