Guide to No. 5 Deer Creek at Guymon

by Jacob Unruh Modified: October 11, 2013 at 11:10 am •  Published: October 11, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Carl & Lou McKinnon Field at Memorial Stadium

Records: Deer Creek 3-2, 1-1 District 5A-2; Guymon 0-5, 0-2

Last week: Deer Creek 70, El Reno 0; Northwest Classen 27, Guymon 15

Players to watch: Deer Creek — Alec James, RB/LB. James scored four touchdowns in the Antlers’ demolition of El Reno. He’s a big, bruising running back that will give Guymon problems.

Guymon — Matt Martinez, RB. Martinez scored both touchdowns for Guymon in last week’s loss to Northwest Classen on runs of 1 and 32 yards.

Storylines: Deer Creek — The Antlers are hitting the soft spot of the district schedule. They’ll need to come out healthy, though, for remaining games against Guthrie and McGuinness.

Guymon — The Tigers are dealing with some injury issues with both Austin Hein and Matthew Mallard out for the remainder of the season. How the rest of the players respond will be key.

The pick: Deer Creek 63, Guymon 6
