Guide to No. 6 Plainview vs. No. 1 Blanchard

by Jacob Unruh Published: December 13, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Moore Stadium

Radio: KRXO-FM 107.7

Records: Plainview 13-0 (7-0 District 3A-4, first); Blanchard 12-0 (6-0 District 3A-1, first)

Last week: Plainview 41, Locust Grove 12; Blanchard 42, Lincoln Christian 13

Players to watch: Plainview — Austin Carrera, RB. He’s rushed for just more than 2,000 yards this season and has been huge for the Indians’ potent offense, but he faces a stiff defense from Blanchard.

Blanchard — Braden Stringer, RB. Stringer has nearly 2,900 yards this season and 41 rushing touchdowns, and he’s been red hot during the playoffs. Can Plainview slow him down enough to make the Lions look to pass the ball?

Storylines: Plainview — Slow down Stringer and force quarterback Blake Owens to throw the ball. That will give the Indians a chance to force mistakes and keep the ball away from Stringer.

Blanchard — Use Stringer to eat up the clock and play sound defense. Plainview features a balanced attack with 15 different players scoring touchdowns this season.

The pick: Blanchard 21, Plainview 17
