Guide to No. 7 McGuinness at No. 6 Collinsville

by Jacob Unruh Modified: November 22, 2013 at 10:35 am •  Published: November 22, 2013

When: 7 p.m., Friday

Where: Collinsville High School

Records: McGuinness 7-4 (5-2, District 5A-2, third); Collinsville 9-2 (6-1 District 6A-4, first)

Last week: McGuinness 40, Ardmore 27; Collinsville 21, Tulsa Kelley 14

Players to watch: McGuinness — Jacob Lewis, QB. Lewis may be the hottest player in the state right now, rushing for 12 touchdowns and more than 700 yards the last two games.

Collinsville — Zane McElroy, QB. McElroy rushed for a touchdown and threw one last week during the Cardinals’ second-half rally.

Storylines: McGuinness — Can the Irish keep doing what they’re doing? For two straight weeks, they have been dominant. If they keep running the ball with success, there may not be much Collinsville can do to stop them.

Collinsville — Stop Lewis’ attack on the ground. If the Cardinals can make him throw and force mistakes, their defense can slow down the Irish enough for the offense to make some noise.

The pick: McGuinness 35, Collinsville 31
