Guide to the Polo Bowl: Heritage Hall at Casady

by Jacob Unruh Published: September 4, 2014

When: 7 p.m., Thursday

Where: Casady, 9500 N. Penn

2013 Records: Heritage Hall 6-5; Casady 6-4

Last meeting: Heritage Hall 30, Casady 22 — Heritage Hall  receiver Domonique James had a huge night, catching three touchdown passes and crossing the 200-yard mark, including two in the fourth quarter.

Last week: Casady 33, Holland Hall 7*

Players to watch: Heritage Hall — Connor McGinnis, QB. A 6-foot-5 dual-threat, McGinnis is primed for a big season for the Chargers. Reports have him having the best preseason to date, a dangerous sign for a team he burned last season.

Casady — Colin Morris, WR. A move-in from Westmoore, the Air Force commitment possesses the top speed for the Cyclones. People know about Iowa State commitment Denver Johnson on the outside, which could leave Morris with less attention to make him even more dangerous.

Storylines: Heritage Hall — Heritage Hall needs to find a way to contain Johnson and Morris, but needs to focus on stopping the running game with Gary Woods II, who had 103 yards and a TD last week.

Casady — Limit what McGinnis can do, and that will start with pressure up front. The Chargers’ have some size up front, but not across the board. Casady can exploit that with big players like Josh Wariboko-Alali and even limit Heritage Hall’s ground attack.

Bonus: Check out my story in today’s paper on Heritage Hall coach Andy Bogert‘s final season. Click here.

The pick: Casady 42, Heritage Hall 35

*Casady opened its regular season last week.
