The Cowboys open fall drills at 4:45 p.m. today in helmets and shorts. Another helmets-and-shorts practice is at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

The Cowboys will add shoulder pads Saturday night at 6, following Fan Appreciation Day. They will go to full pads for the first time on Monday.

The first of three two-a-day sessions is scheduled Tuesday, the final day practices will be open to fans. Coach Mike Gundy announced practices will be closed beginning Wednesday.

"We're excited about the upcoming season,” Gundy said. "This is the funnest time of year for us as a staff. We don't get to coach a lot, four or five months in the fall and one month in the spring.

"This is what we like most, to be with the players, have fun, prepare for games and go out on Saturdays and play.”
