KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The week began Sunday night, in a corner table at Garozzo's, where over scrumptious bistecca modiga, a television flared above, with closed-captioning.

The ESPYs were on. And host Justin Timberlake, he of the Halftime Gone Wild and a striking resemblance to Josh Heupel, added to his sporting connections with a spoof of Mike Gundy's rant.
Oh, brother. Would it never end? With Big 12 football media days on tap in KC this week, and Gundy scheduled for the gauntlet Tuesday, would the rant never leave Oklahoma State football's center stage?
Good news: The rant is losing steam. Gundy will be a man of 40 for only a few more weeks, and judging by the media's interest at the downtown Marriott, the rant might have similar legs.
I spent 4
hours with Gundy on Tuesday, and the first half of that marathon, Gundy fielded as many comments about his spiffy suit as he did questions about his September tirade against Oklahoman colleague Jenni Carlson.
The interest increased later in the day, but maybe soon Gundy can get on about the business of winning ball games and OSU football can make national news for victory rather than vitriol.
"It was really behind me the moment I walked out of that room,” Gundy said.
Who's he kidding? He couldn't go anywhere without seeing the I'm-a-man-I'm-40 T-shirts. Couldn't go through airports without being recognized by people who pre-rant never had heard of the state of Oklahoma, much less a certain football coach in Stillwater.
When Gundy sat down to address a sea of writers Tuesday and was asked to deliver an opening statement, he cracked, "I've been a pretty popular guy over the last year; I don't know how many opening comments I need to make.”
But that year is drawing to a close — the anniversary date is Sept. 22 — and some of our rabblerousing crowd have moved on to other issues.
Through a tour of national television interviews — ESPN, Fox Sports Net, Versus, the Big 12 Web site and ESPNU — Gundy fielded nary a question about the rant.
Through stops at various live radio interviews, a few asked about the rant, a few did not. ABC's cluster of network television affiliates did not ask. FOX's group asked one rant question. NBC's two.
Others were more inquisitive. CBS affiliates asked five, and the writers asked a ton.
Some of the more interesting responses from Gundy:
•Any regrets? Not in content, Gundy said. Only in delivery. He would have kept his voice down. "I would have kept it to a monotone level,” he said. Gundy's volume grew as his anger boiled over the column about quarterback Bobby Reid.
"That was something that came from a reaction, and I felt very comfortable afterwards,” Gundy said.
•Would he do anything differently with Reid, who had been benched and after the season transferred to Texas Southern?
"There was not anything we could have done with Bobby differently,” Gundy said.
"We gave Bobby every opportunity. What it came down to, Zac (Robinson) was a better player. One guy performed better and deserved to play.
"Sometimes parents will ask me, ‘Who's going to play?' I say, ‘I don't make that decision. Players make that decision.' ”
•How his relationship with the media has been affected? "People thought that I had a bad relationship with the media, which isn't the deal at all,” Gundy said. "I've had a good relationship with the media since I was 15 years old.”
True, though his lockdown on player interviews has moved him closer to the Bill Snyder Camp than maybe he realizes.
•Is Gundy bothered by Reid's post-transfer interview with ESPN in which he said the rant ruined his life? "Not really,” Gundy said. "I don't take into account a lot of that. When you're young, you can say things or react in a manner that's not really in you.
"There's no question from my standpoint, in being a head coach, you have to make decisions and at the end of the day, you have to lay your head down, and I don't have any problem going to sleep.”
Maybe so. But Gundy has to know that the effect of the rant was that instead of every football fan in Oklahoma reading a column that Gundy thought a cheap shot, every football fan in America read it.
One good sign: Gundy now is able to joke about the rant. Said if he had kept his volume low, he might have been only 19th instead of sixth for the year in YouTube hits.
Asked if Colorado coach Dan Hawkins might be a good candidate to replace Gundy as a memorable ranter, Gundy played along. "Dan's a good candidate,” Gundy said. "White Sox manager "Ozzie Guillen. If the Royals don't start playing better, their manager's a good candidate.”
Humor is a step toward healing.
This was quite likely the rant's last stand. Gundy's year of notoriety soon will end, and he will rise or fall for what his team does on the gridiron, not for what he shouted during a rant.

Gundy's rant may be behind HIM, but this will the the Gift That "Just Keeps on Giving" for years to come on TV and the Internet when football season comes around. Thanks Mike for making an Ass out of yourself and OSU.
Why not get the Defense fixed and just SHUT UP!
"If you'll just drop your expectations to the bottom basement, Gundy doesn't look so bad."
"Don't expect to win, expect mediocrity."
"Seek out and emphasize some obscure meaningless sign of improvement. Something... anything that can be used as an excuse to extend the losing Gundy malaize for as long as possible."
These are things "GOOD Cowboy fans" wish for. "GOOD Cowboy fans don't expect and demand 9 & 10 wins or more.
M-I don't know if you are still paying any attention, but I don't think I have any unrealistic expectations for this team. I can look at the schedule and see that it's going to be hard to win more than 7-8 games in regular season. Besides the usual Big XII South gauntlet, we have to play at both Mizzou and Colorado in the North. You are right that OSU lost some productive players, but you are really underestimating them if you think Robinson is "by himself". I think you are going to see that they aren't going to drop off much at RB with Hunter and Beau Johnson. They lost Bowman, but Dez Bryant is more than capable of being as good or even better eventually. They also have several other good prospects at WR, just not much experience. So, I really think the offense is going to keep humming along fine. As it has been for what seems like forever, the question as to whether there is any real improvement for OSU will be whether the defense if really ready to step up and improve.
No, 18-19 is not exclusively the fault of Gundy's failed Bobby Reid experiment... that just happens to be one of his most obvious and one of his most long-lived blunders. If you have the "talent" to beat a 13th ranked Texas Tech and you inherit 15 returning starters from a Alamo Bowl team, you have no excuse for losing to Houston, Baylor, and being swept by a weak North (at the time). When Gundy talks about it taking years of recruiting, he's blaming his players for his losses. He accepts no responsibility himself... "it takes years of recruiting and years in the system". 18-19 isn't on the players or the facilities or cockroach fans not paying enough for ticket prices. If Gundy really thinks his problem was Miles "thugs", why in the world did he retain and promote Miles Recruiting Coordinator (Joe DeForrest) that brought these "thugs" to Stillwater in the first place? Doesn't hold water, does it?
Patrick, If a coach that happens to be an ex-QB himself, can't correctly determine which QB should start through the spring, fall, and into the season, what makes you think he can chose the best DE's, LB's, and DB's to play?
OSU's defense has been a problem, mainly on 3rd down, but I still think Reid was a difference maker type athlete that doesn't come to Stillwater that often. Zac's a nice player, but I don't believe he concerns OU or Texas (by himself). Pettigrew is a stud, but a ton of offensive and defensive production left. What is your "real world" expectations for this team?
Wow Richard. Are you seriously blaming the 18-19 record just on the QB situation? It seems our offense, ranked in the top 10 the last couple years, has been pretty good no matter who's been at QB. Granted, Gundy has made some mistakes along the way, but let's put some blame where it belongs, stating with the defense. Again, I realize it's his ultimate responsibility to put the coaching staff together, but to blame all the failures completely on the QB situation is just downright ridiculous. With Reid going most of the way in 2006, the record was 7-6. With Robinson most of the way in 2007, 7-6.
"We gave Bobby every opportunity. What it came down to, Zac (Robinson) was a better player. One guy performed better and deserved to play." ---- So what in your intuitive genius (Mike) told you that Booby DESERVED to play over a PROVEN winning Donovan Woods in the first place????????----------------------------------------"Sometimes parents will ask me, ‘Who's going to play?' I say, ‘I don't make that decision. Players make that decision.' ” ---- So Donovan made the decision to bench himself because he ONLY had a 9-5 record as the starting QB or Bobby made the decision to start because he could bring immediate losses to Houston and Baylor to the table???????? NO Gundy, YOU made that decision, and you were WRONG! The Booby Reid experiment was a bone-head disaster that cost OSU the better part of three season's.---------------------------------------- ""There's no question from my standpoint, in being a head coach, you have to make decisions and at the end of the day, you have to lay your head down, and I don't have any problem going to sleep.” ---- Can anyone say, psycopath? If the man has no problem sleeping after the 3 year Donovan vs Reid vs Pena vs Reid vs Robinson fiasco that resulting in a 18-19 losing record and killing all the momentum of Boone's big donation then... well... bless his heart. In the wake of his sleepless nights was Donovan's QB career, Al Pena, Bobby Reid, and the entire Cowboy Nation... but he's good with that... he sleeps well.
Brent Rawls is very relevant to Reid. He was a HS All-American QB too. How do you know that he wasn't good enough to crack the lineup because the OU coaching staff couldn't get him to his potential? How do you know Reid was better than Zac Robinson? You don't. Very biased argument there. You are making other arguments where there are none. I never said the facilities would be the difference. What I said was OSU had no chance at all WITHOUT them. Big difference. I don't think there is any doubt you can attract more top-notch players with the facilities they are building vs. the (non) facilities they had. You have to start somewhere. Which brings us to your other non-argument. Where did I say Gundy was the answer to Stoops, Leach, or Brown? What I said was, if Gundy is given the facilties, the money for a decent staff, and everything else he needs to succeed and he doesn't, then I'm all for them looking elsewhere. Nowhere did you see me defending Gundy or say he was suddenly going to start winning conference championships. I like the guy too, but he's gotta win at some point. I guess maybe your argument is you have to get a coach first, but it's kind of a "chicken or the egg" thing. How exactly was OSU supposed to find (and keep) a top-flight coach with the facilities and lack of tradition they had? You can't buy tradition but, thanks to Pickens, you CAN buy facilities. One way to help attract a better coach is to have those type of facilities so that the school is showing a commitment to trying to compete.
Brent Rawls wasn't good enough to crack the lineup and Dampeer wouldn't go to class. Not relevant to Reid. The OSU coaching staff, IMO, was unable to get Reid producing to his potential and he could have been a star (ala VY). Which is what OSU needed to break through. So, the new facilities will be the difference? Have you been to Texas Tech or aTm? Louisville? Arizona State? Clemson? Iowa? All brand new, state of the art facilities and which one would be a contender in the Big XII South right now......? No question, it will help with excitement and splash, but that won't last for very long. I think a new, established coach would be a good addition to T-Booneland. I like Mike Gundy, but is he the answer to Stoops, Leach, and Brown?
Again M, it's a numbers game. OU, USC, et al have better "luck" developing them because they get more of them. Like I said, OU has had their share of misses. What about Brent Rawls? Mo Dampeer? I'm sure there are plenty more I'm not thinking about. Your "doomed the moment he signed with the Cowboys" doesn't fly considering Reid plays offense. OSU has had a Top 10 offense the past couple of years with All Big-12 caliber talent in guys like Adarius Bowman, Dantrell Savage, Russell Okung and some up-and-comers like Dez Bryant. Speaking of Bryant, he was a Parade All-American and he's not exactly looking like a bust. I never said you could win big in the Big XII with a few diamonds in the rough and that wasn't the point. You suggested Reid was a bust because he didn't get quality coaching and my point was that it took some coaching to make those "diamonds" into players. I also don't agree with your "slap some paint on Lewis and throw all the money at Miles". Miles wasn't going to stay at OSU for any amount of money because of the very reason we are talking about. LSU has more football tradition, gets the better players, and has no in-state competition. You have no chance to compete these days without facilities. Both the stadium and the training facilities for the athletes. OSU has/will have some of the best facilities around. So, they will have a better chance of attracting the better athletes that OU gets and will be better able to develop them when they do. If Gundy and his staff can't it done then, they have no excuses and OSU should go looking for the next Les Miles.
No, the "5 star guys" don't always pan out, but USC, Ohio State, Florida, and, yes, Oklahoma seems to have better "luck" developing and winning with them. That's my point. If playing in high profile, championships games and achieving all-america and other awards is a priority, why would you go to OSU or other programs equal to their futility. IMO, its a gamble. If I'm recruiting for Texas or OU in Houston, and OSU is a rival for some stud's services, I'm using this story. "So you like OSU? Ever heard of XLK or Robbie Reid?" As far as your diamonds in the rough scenarios go, you don't win big or make a living in the Big XII with 2 or 3 guys being better than advertised out of high school. I just think the Reid kid was doomed the moment he signed with the Cowboys. OSU would have been better off putting another coat of paint on Lewis and thrown all that money at Lesley Miles.
M-I can't argue with much in your last post, but we all know that highly-recruited HS All-Americans don't always pan out and OU has had some of those as well. We will never know exactly why Reid didn't make it big, but we'll also never know if he would have done better at a bigger, more tradition-rich football school. There is certainly something to be said for recruiting the great athletes, putting them in an environment where they can succeed, and developing them into outstanding college and possibly NFL players. But, there is a flip side to that. Not to take anything away from the coaching job that Stoops and his staff do, but let's face it, OU always has one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the nation. That kind of a stockpile of talent could make a lot of coaches look good. Conversely, finding players that weren't as highly recruited and building them into players takes some talent as well. There are some recent OSU players that are examples of this. Dantrell Savage was barely recruited out of HS, went the JUCO route, and was discovered by OSU. He was All Big-12 last year. His replacement was Kendall Hunter, whose only other D-1 offer was TCU, and he looks like a good one. The best recent example may be Brandon Pettigrew. He wasn't that highy recruited out of HS. At the time of this year's NFL draft, I saw where one NFL scout said that Pettigrew would be the best TE to come into the NFL in the last 10 years and that he graded out higher than any TE in this years' draft. So, I would respectfully submit that the OSU players aren't exactly bereft of quality coaching. They've had their gaffes and they don't have as much talent with which to work, but they are developing some players.
I hope that Gundy's retort to a wannabe sports reporter is never forgotten. Let it be a guide for all coaches that have their players attacked by a person of limited moral guidance. Maybe this will be a lesson to the Oklahoman that shoddy sports writing will lead to critism of the media, rather than the coach.
I didn't bring OU into the discussion, but OK. Bomar was on his way until HIS bad choices caught up to him. His problems were not between the lines, therefore no comparison with Reid. Bomar also would have been surrounded by NFL talent. Peterson, Kelly, Gresham, and Murray just to name a few skilled players plus several NFL caliber off. linemen. Regardless, Bomar and Reid will still be drafted higher than Robinson (who is a fine player). As far as Stoops is concerned, he has produced 24 all americans, a Heisman winner, 3 more Heisman finalists, and put his players in championship games. That is how you develop and support the premier recruited athletes. Thanks for the sports knowledge complement. I'll be glad to help you out anytime. Touche' on the Hee, hee, you're right about that.
M, if you are going to question someone's maturity, maybe you shouldn't use the phrase "hee hee." Going by your point, I guess the same could be said for Stoops and his boy Bomar. Your sports knowledge is so incredible. Keep 'em coming.
Mikey didn't like my comment? You had to resort to name calling. Very mature. You guys are so much fun. Hey Mike, I read your first comment on this blog. Good analysis, to bad you don't believe a word of it. Hee, hee.
Yeah M, I guess that's why Zac Robinson ended up having such a great year? Him, Heisman winner Tebow, and the kid from UCF were the only QBs in the nation to finish with the incredible stats they did (the only difference is that Zac did it with at least 2 less games). But I guess that had nothing to do with quality coaching, right? Idiot.
What's being missed in the Bobbie Reid story is why the heck he chose Okie State over programs like Florida State and Ohio State etc. Lesson to big time talents out there. Don't waste your college career on second tier programs. They don't know how to develop your talent and don't surround you with comparable skill people or quality coaches and support.
Apparently, TJ believes that using multiple punctuation marks will somehow make his imbecilic ramblings seem clever, brilliant, or in some way interesting. Not working for me...
Incredible. uo fans trying to impress with clever and brilliant bits like "nice suit", "free bowl of soup", "nice haircute". And the laughable thing is, they don't even realize how truly pathetic they sound. To think, 90% (yes, there were polls) of the sports fans in this nation supported what Mike Gundy did in defending his player against a cheap-shot artist, but the gooners don't get it yet. Poor gooners.
I agree with Mike. Reid saying the rant "ended his life" is just silly, but not unexpected from an immature kid. At 21, maybe he thought his life was over, but come on. He has a degree, he's a smart kid, and he still has a shot to make it in football. I'd say his life is just starting. If he's blaming Gundy and the rant for ending his NFL dreams, that's just not the case and for him or anyone else to say otherwise is just mis-placing the blame. The fact of the matter is, he just does not appear to have what it takes to make it in the NFL. I don't recall Reid having any problem with it when the coaches took the job away from Donovan Woods and handed it to Reid. You can bet Woods never said anything about that incident "ruining his life". On the contrary, he stepped up and learned new positions, remained a team leader, and had a nice career. He's now in an NFL camp trying to make it, but even if he doesn't, Donovan Woods' life if far from over. He will be a leader and success no matter what he does in life. Bobby could learn a lot from him.
"The rant ended Bobby Reid's life?" That's taking it a little to the extreme, don't you think? If he were a tough, talented QB he would have taken it stride, laughed it off, and gone on to another school and succeeded there. If it ends your life, then you're not tough enough to make it in Division 1 football anyway. I don't think it "ended his life". It may have been something of an embarrassment, but haven't we moved past that point by now? You can bring it up as many times as you want - say it a thousand different ways - why, you can dedicate a whole issue of the Daily Okalhoman, and the Tulsa World to it, and it won't make any difference to me. It was a spur of the moment deal with Gundy, I'm sure. He probably wishes he could take it back, but what's done is done. let's all move on.
Will, you are pathetic trying to pull off the "I am better than you because I know someone who knew someone who owed them a favor and made me a nm scholar". Idiot.
To TJ in OKC - I just happen to be both an "Aggie" and a national merit scholar, and I feel compelled to note that your grasp of spelling and grammar reveals that you, like most other OU fans, never even attended college, much less won any sort of academic scholarship. So please get back to work before you let the french fries burn.
OSU fans. Your whole season comes down to the OU game. You are so pathetic. That is why your program will never be a winner. You cannot even grasp what it takes to be a winner. You must show up for all of your games. And yes OU will lay an egg every year but they are a winning program with tradition. OSU has improved their Stadium and barns on campus. Big change.
Hey, Spavinaw Roy, you better not read today's Tulsa Paper. There is this big article about the "Rant", and not very flattering. Oh, but wait, they are part of the anti-OSU conspiracy too. Also, don't watch the ESPY's as they keep re-running them from the other day. Yep, they spoof the "Rant". You better not read any of the pre-season sports publications pieces on OSU for this season, such as Fox, ESPN, CFN, etc. They all mention the "Rant" early and often. Guys, it isn't going to go away. I know you all wish you could wave a wand and it would be over. All of Boone's men and all of Boone's dollars can't put Humpty Dumpty back together again. I do love how so many want this "dropped". I would too.
Way to go Berry! Nice negative article about coach Gundy... Berry, the so called "RANT" has been over for going on a year now, ESPN, Fox Sports, Big 12 & ESPNU never mentioned it.... Berry it's over....
Berry, did they send you to KC to do a non-story like that
Bobby has his feelings hurt. Plain and simple. I can't blame him at all. He had a lot of hopes and dreams coming out of high school to OSU, and they didn't work out like he planned. I think most people here, including me, have experienced that feeling. During the piece they showed on College Football Live, Bobby said Gundy had said, during the rant, that he was doing everything right, "but then why wasn't I playing?" That's where Bobby was most frustrated with Gundy. What Gundy meant was that Bobby went to class, stayed out of trouble, and played hard. However, that did not change the fact the Zac was a better player. Bobby didn't play because Zac gave the team a better chance to win. He was saying that Bobby did everything they asked him to do, but sometimes that's not enough to get on the field. This rant did not end his life. He graduated, went somewhere were he would get to play, and he still has some NFL possibilities (although that's an extreme long shot). "The rant" was about defending Bobby from an unfair attack and uniting a team that did not handle the transition at quarterback well against Troy.
It might have appeared that Gundy had good intentions when he did his rant but the person he appeared to be helping (reid) he ended up hurting the most. Reid has said in an interview that Gundy's rant "basically ended my life" and that the whole rant was a front. Reid knows Gundy better than any fan does so if he thinks Gundy is fake I would take his word for it. I dont think Gundy should be commended for ending someones life.
I think most of you OU fans can agree with the point of Gundy's rant. Is it really fair to go after a college athlete in the newspaper? Now, if a guy gets drunk and beats his friend into a comma, he's fair game. If a player pleads guilty to sexual assult, by all means, write as harshly as you want. But does a guy deserve to be dragged through the mud because he wasn't as good as someone else? Last time I checked, not reaching your potential is not a felony. Bobby Reid stayed out of trouble, played hard (even if he didn't always play very well), and graduated with a degree. While you can certainly debate the manner in which Gundy handled the situation, is anyone here honestly blaming him for getting so upset? OU fans, just ask yourself, what if this had been Stoops defending Bradford from a similar attack? Best of luck to you Bobby, good luck to the Sooners this year, and Go Pokes!
I like to come on here and say stuff like you OSU fans had better get ready for a 5-7 season and blah blah blah. That's not because I truly believe that but mainly because of how TICKED off you guys get and how much me and my friends chuckle at how quickly you blow-up. The truth is Mike from OKC may very well be right. It may come down to OSU and OU or even OSU and Texas Tech for the Big XII South this year. But know this, Mike Gundy's a good coach and an even better recruiter. I think in the end he'll be better for the OSU program than Les miles would have ever developed to be. But 8 months ago some of you were calling for his head.
Pity poor Mike Gundy. His boss (in reality) is an arrogant prick whose self-worth is exceeded only by his apparent cash flow. His boss (on paper) is a former golf coach who thinks college golf national championships are akin to a Super Bowl three-peat. He is following a "legend" who just won a national championship. His brother has a cooler name. And he has no chance to succeed at Oklahoma State.
Too much talk about the rant. Poor trashwriting by Barry. With a title such as Gundy will be judged on w's not tirade..........you would think the article would talk about what OSU record might be.
Stupid Sooners. Bob Stoops himself totally agreed with the rant and thought it was great. You idiots do realize the Mike Gundy's brother is one of your coaches and coached your "beloved" Adrian Peterson? Some of you Sooners need to lay off the meth, get out of the trailer, and get your GED so you can get a real job.
Guess you sooners cannot read polls that agreed 90%with Gundy's response to a lousy wannabe sports writer. Seems it was only yesterday that some sooners could not give an educated response to a question and answer interview by an Oklahoman Sports writer. It is also hard to believe that some comments came from sooners who supposedly graduated from OU. I don't believe they did.
Glen, Edmond......I agree, Mike in Oklahoma City is
smoking full blown weed or is living a pipe dream or
he could have fallen out of a BIG tree on his head.
You know Sooners you sure have a lot of hate stored up in those comments for a "non-rival" like OSU. You need to be worried about whether or not your team will be ready for Bedlam this coming Novemeber. You also need to be worried about whether your QB has discovered clearasil in the pharmacy section of the grocery store.
Back to back 7-6 seasons is building something special?? Having to rely on to win bowl games against Indiana and a rebuilding Bama team to achieve a winning record is building something special? Congrats Poke Nation on the upgraded facilities, something that OSU desperately needed. But that's not going to win Big 12 championships or even Big 12 south division titles. Trust me, OU fans aren't worried about OSU's upgraded facilities or a new and improved defense or a returning offense(which by the way never does anything against good defenses). OSU will always be OSU(a middle of the pack type of team that is capable of upsetting a powerhouse but also capable of losing to Troy....a team that will hover around .500 and every once in a while will produce an 8 or 9 win season....a team that will always be second fiddle to OU....a program with no Big 12 south titles, no Big 12 championships, and no national titles. And my favorite stat of all...the Bedlam series is currently at 78-17-7. The most lopsided series in the nation featuring two teams from the same state.
The "rant" has not slowed down Gundy & Company or negatively impacted the Poke Nation. Gundy is building something special in Stillwater and the Gooner’s know it but will not admit it. Why do you think they post all the negative comments and always poke fun of all the great things going on in Stillwater? Can’t wait for the season to start!!
Hey Ags, if the rant was such a great thing, why are you SOOOO defensive about it and so adamant about "moving on"? i would think that if it was uch a great thing for the Ags you wuold want it brought up again and again, yet when this paper does write about it we get palpable anger in some responses to outright psychosis in others (see Danny below). And Phil, could you provide a link proving that "college football fans overwhelmingly" supported the rant? My unscientific take is that they think he's a nutjob. But I'll go with your hard numbers - when you provide them of course.
Here's what we know as fact: 1. Gundy's "tirade" was mainly directed to Mike Sherman, to who he personally reffered in the "rant" and who directed Jenni to write the trashy piece on Bobby; 2. Not only did millions of "pre-rant" people discover the state of Oklahoma and it's football coach for the first time, they also discovered The Daily Oklahoman for the first time, so the Gaylord newspaper monopoly owes Gundy a pat on the back for free national pub; 3. College football fans all over the country overwhelmingly supported Gundy's defense of his player, regardless of what prima-donna media putzes write.
Boy Berry, that Danny from Smegma has a chubby for you. He sounds like a Stalker, so you better watch your back. I want some of what Mike in OKC is smoking. That stuff must be great!
Mike in OKC is smokin some good stuff. How all the sudden is OSU going 9-2? Their offense will put up some serious points but the defense is gonna give up just as many. I don't disklike OSU, it's just the same stuff every year; "this is the year". Whatever...I'm also tired of all the pre-season hype on OU. Until they show the country they can win the "big" game, I'll stay skeptical of the hype. And I love OU...
Such harsh words TJ. Gundy's rant to me displays how much passion and desire he has for his team and his players. Like he has always said if his sons were in a situation like Bobby was he would want their coaches to stick up for them. I mean Bobby is a kid, a kid that lost his starting position and then Jenni Carlson proceeded to kick him while he was down by writing the article that she did. How many of us can say we have never done or said anything a little out of character while we were upset??? I'm guessing none of us can say that. I don't think what Gundy did is an embarassment to the school or football or anything like that. His passion and loyalty just kind of boiled over. It is too bad Bobby couldn't have had that same kind of loyalty for his team and coaches.
Note to WT Aggies... The fact that the ESPY's thought to include a spiff of your redneck coach acting like the biggest toolshed in college football, and almost a year later I might add, only proves what Tramel is saying!!!! You think you fools would recognize the obvious here but nobody's ever confused an Aggie for a national merit scholar ar anything:) Gundy is the laughing stock of college football and OSU (that's oklahoma state unsiversity not Ohio State University - nobody outside of Perkins even knows you go by OSU freaks) will continue to wither away in mediocrity!!!!!
Berry, you Sooner kowtowing suckup.
It didn't take you long to get in your obsequious Sooner mention in an OSU article.
".. Justin Timberlake, he of the Halftime Gone Wild and a striking resemblance to Josh Heupel, "
OMG. DID TRAMEL JUST COMPARE TIMBERLAKE TO HEUPEL?!
WHAT A HOMO TRAMEL IS!!
Berry, you're still angry that Gundy downdressed your little pledge writer Carlson a year ago. You're still depressed that Gundy gets more press and positive reaction for that downdressing that all the negative spin you and this stinkin' rag of a paper could put on it. Your spin was ineffectual (unless you're talking about around the folding card table filled with Sooner fans at the trailer park).
YOU SUCK, TRAMEL.
Stop writing about anything OSU because you cannot contain your jealousy or hatred.
Just write about something you do know -- sucking up to Stoops and anything OU.
Maybe Tramel should go into fashion instead of sports..he called Gundy's suit "spiffy"? I don't think he could do any worse as a fashion editor as he can a sports writer....
Berry, Berry, Berry. Hate to break it to you, but it's time to let the Gundy "rant" thing go. We all know you felt compelled to stick up for your fellow "journalist" Jenni Carlson. You did so once already. Let it go.
You speak of a healing process. Neither Gundy nor OSU require a healing process as a result of what happened. Far from it. It is only media hounds such as yourself who perpetuate things like this.
Gundy won't need a speech to gain attention this season. He'll get his attention, and he'll get it by winning.
It will come down to my Pokes and the Gooners for the south this year mark it down....The Gooners will be 10-1 and my Pokes will be 9-2 when they face this year.My pokes will win in a close one and move on to Kansas City and will most likely lose to Mizzou....Mizzou will be much to strong this year.
2009 should be a cake walk to the BIG 12 CG for my Pokes because the gooners and Mizzou will be in rebuilding stages and my Cowboys will have most of there team coming back....Go Pokes!!!

It's pretty obvious by your writing that the only suit you've had was a law suite.
Incredible. uo fans trying to impress with clever and brilliant bits like "nice suit", "free bowl of soup", "nice haircute". And the laughable thing is, they don't even realize how truly pathetic they sound. To think, 90% (yes, there were polls) of the sports fans in this nation supported what Mike Gundy did in defending his player against a cheap-shot artist, but the gooners don't get it yet. Poor gooners.
Berry, did they send you to KC to do a non-story like that

It didn't take you long to get in your obsequious Sooner mention in an OSU article.

OMG. DID TRAMEL JUST COMPARE TIMBERLAKE TO HEUPEL?!
