GUTHRIE — Top-ranked Guthrie delivered the goods once again Friday night, dominating Durant 41-15 in a District 5A-2 football game at Jelsma Stadium.

The reigning Class 5A state champion Bluejays delighted the rowdy homecoming crowd with an offensive show courtesy of senior quarterback Keaton Callins and star wide receiver Donte Foster. The two connected seven times for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Foster added a 35-yard touchdown run on a nifty reverse at the start of the second quarter.
"We came into this game with a lot of determination on our minds because everybody was talking about how somebody was supposed to upset us, and we weren't going to let that happen on homecoming night,” Foster said.
After a strong opening drive by Durant, it looked like the Jays might have their hands full. Durant quarterback Max White looked comfortable early, marching his team 82 yards for the game's first points.
After that, defensive back Josh King and the Jays' defense took over and allowed only 94 yards of total offense.
"We knew they we going to bring pressure all night, but we dropped a lot a very catchable passes,” Durant coach Byron Cordell said. "When you play a good team you can't make mistakes, and Guthrie's a team that doesn't need any help.”
Both teams were plagued with penalties; however, two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties by Durant offensive lineman Bailey Nelson changed the game.
The penalties put Guthrie on the Lions' 43-yard line with just over three minutes left in the second quarter. The Jays scored on a 14-yard pass from Callins to Kendrell Brothers for a 28-7 halftime lead.
The Jays visit eighth-ranked Ardmore next Friday. The game could help determine the district champion.
"Our confidence is really high right now, and we know how good we can play,” Foster said. "Our offense hasn't really been there the past few games, but now we have confidence that we can go up there and play against anyone.”
