HUGO — A gymnastics coach arrested in October on a child rape complaint is also charged in South Carolina, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported.
A warrant from Simpsonville Police Department in South Carolina was issued for Sandro Ramos, 39, for criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16, OSBI reported.
Ramos, a gymnastics instructor and owner of Gymnastics and More in Hugo, was a member of the Oklahoma Gymnastics Board and has coached gymnastics in Florida, South Carolina and Oklahoma. He has lived in Oklahoma since 2011, according to the OSBI.
Ramos was arrested by OSBI agents and Choctaw County deputies in October and was charged with four counts of lewd molestation and one count of rape in the first degree of a child under the age of 14 by the Choctaw County District Court in December, OSBI reported.
During the joint investigation, authorities contacted the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in hopes of locating and interviewing a former student of Ramos. During the interview, the former student told investigators of being sexually abused by Ramos in South Carolina, OSBI reported.
Ramos is in the Choctaw County jail awaiting trial. South Carolina authorities plan to extradite Ramos for prosecution after the case in Choctaw County is resolved, OSBI reported.
