Describing it is not easy. Some call it a reverse mullet. Others refer to it as a momhawk. Most call it unfinished.

Kate Gosselin’s blond asymmetrical ’do is the subject of blogs and late-night commentary. She makes $75,000 an episode for "Jon & Kate Plus 8,” so how did she end up with such an unusual hairstyle?

The mother of eight likes her look, and told Us magazine that everyone wants her hairstyle. "My hair stylist gets calls from all across the country.”

Celebrity hairstyles grab attention, and women often race to the salon with pictures in hand. Remember Jennifer Aniston’s shag known as the Rachel?

So, are women flocking to Oklahoma City salons asking for Gosselin’s hairstyle?

"Not really,” said Miranda Augusta, co-owner and education director for Salon Rebel. Several clients have similar styles, such as those worn by Rihanna and Victoria Beckham, but the hair is blended and flows together, she said. "To me,” she said of the Gosselin style, "it’s not finished. It’s not very blended. It’s two haircuts sitting on one head.”

Michelle Wilson, owner of Wilson Art Hair Gallery, isn’t a fan of the style either. "It’s a female version of a modern-day Billy Ray Cyrus. It’s kind of a mullet in reverse, super short in back and long in front. His was short in front and long in back.”

At Schardein & Co., "Our clients want easy, no maintenance, a cleaner look with clean ends and symmetrical,” said Lori Miller, manager and stylist.

Something needs to be finished, she said of Gosselin’s hair. "Cut it all short or let the back grow out long.”
