HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — Hamburger SV has fired sporting director Oliver Kreuzer as part of a shake-up following a season in which the club narrowly avoided relegation from the Bundesliga.
Hamburg board chairman Dietmar Beiersdorf tells the club website: "We have certain plans in place during the sporting restructuring of the club. This decision is one of them."
Beiersdorf thanked the 48-year-old Kreuzer for his work at the club since June 2013 and "for the way he helped and supported me."
The club needed a playoff win last season to avoid its first Bundesliga relegation.
