Harkins Bricktown 16 to show Edgar Wright trilogy: 'Shaun of the Dead,' 'Hot Fuzz' and 'World's End'

George Lang Published: August 20, 2013

In “Shawn of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz,” director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost took a cockeyed British look at two popular Hollywood genres: zombie horror and buddy-cop action comedies. To celebrate the release of the trio’s apocalypse comedy, “World’s End,” Harkins Bricktown 16 will screen all three films on Thursday, culminating in the 10 p.m. showing of “World’s End.”
Wright calls the films the “Cornetto Trilogy,” named for the British brand of frozen ice cream cones that appear in each film. A red strawberry-flavored cone appears in “Shawn” to symbolize the blood and gore in that film, a blue original flavor shows up in “Hot Fuzz” as the traditional color of police uniforms, and a green mint cone appears in “World’s End” to match the color of attacking aliens.
The screenings begin at 5:30 p.m. with “Shaun of the Dead.” Tickets for the trilogy are $20 and are on sale now at www.harkinstheatres.com/cornetto.
