Harley fans won’t hog all the space in Bricktown
The Bricktown Association estimates that about 7,700 parking spaces will still be available today within a block of the entertainment district, even though part of it is being restricted to motorcycle traffic.
The district will host a Harley Owners Group block party. Street closings will include Main Street and Sheridan Avenue between E.K. Gaylord and Mickey Mantle Drive, as well as Oklahoma Avenue and Mickey Mantle Drive, north of Reno Avenue. While car parking might raise concerns, Michael Scroggins, spokesman for the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority, said prices at city-owned garages will not exceed regular rates. Jim Cowan, director of the Bricktown Association said he believes visitors will still find ample parking, even though lots in the heart of the district will be closed to vehicles. The 7,700 spaces include the North Bricktown Parking along Main Street, the Santa Fe parking garage and the Cox Convention Center’s garage. Bricktown employees are being provided vouchers from the Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority for free parking in the Santa Fe parking garage.Related Articles
