NORMAN – Oklahoma safety Tony Jefferson might have finally found his position on the field.

In two seasons, Jefferson has played linebacker and nickel back. Now it appears he has finally found some comfort and stability at safety.

“I guess I just use a word that Coach (Brent) Venables used. He used I'm a ‘versatile' player. I mean, you can use me in a lot of different places. That can't hurt the team at all. It's good to have an asset like that where you can be anywhere on the field.”

“I think it helps the team. If somebody goes down, I can probably play any position. Once you learn one position, in the meantime you're learning other positions at the same time. You learn free, you know strong safety. You know nickel, you learn linebacker. I think it's just a good asset to be moved around and stuff. I kind of like being just one position, though.”

I like where Mike's (Stoops) head is at; he's got the right mindset. He knows how to utilize us all as a defense. I'm really excited about what he has for us.”

“I'm About Whatever Still”

Jefferson's own words, honestly. “My campaigns will include Justin Bieber posters around. ... Have some Kim Kardashian cards...” We know where this is going.

* OU defensive coordinator Mike Stoops: “He's easy to coach. I think great players are easy to coach.”

* OU cornerback Demontre Hurst: “I think (free safety) is his strength. Coach (Bob) Stoops realized that was his strength, that he's better at safety.”

* OU defensive back Jonathan Nelson: “He usually goes 100 mph. Even if he messes up, he's going to do it at full speed.”
