This is just another piece of hate-propaganda against smokers. The largest study on secondhand smoke by the WHO found NO HARM to anyone from secondhand smoke, but the media choose to ignore it and the health fascists had it suppressed. Anti-smoker propaganda is not about health, it's all about hate. I would like to see an investigative article that is actually objective about the claims against smokers made by the Health Department and the anti-smoker organizations like the ACS and the RWJF.

When I am exposed to second-hand smoke, my eyes water, I start sneezing and I start coughing. It's almost like a bad allergy attack that won't go away.

I suspect twenty years of exposure to it at the Caoitol is at least partially responsible for my lymphoma.

What about all the people killed by second hand drinking? You hear the story of the family of 5 killed by a drunk driver, who of course survives, as an example of what second hand drinking is.

T.A. Did you catch my post in the earthquake at Chandler about global warning. While the North Pole is supposedly breaking up because of the warming, I received pictures of multi-colored waves of water at the South Pole because of them freezing as soon as they hit the air from being the coldest in recorded history. As for the 700 dieing from second hand smoke I really have no idea how their cause of death has been determined. I've been around 2nd hand smoke for 67 years, and while it really bothers me, my heart shows to be in excellent condition and my lungs are clean. I would think unborn or just born babies would be the only ones tests could be compared with. My brother had asthma and we ran to keep in shape. Running past moldy hay was far more of a bother to him than smoke. Again the term,"Figures don't lie, but liars figure." seems to fit. I think of men like George Burns smoking to 100 years old. How old would he have reached had he never smoked?

Yes, my blood pressure goes up every time I see/hear the media pushing this 700 people die from it every year lie. Like the man-made global warming scare tactic, this is just one more reason for the nanny government to demand the right to tell people how to live.

Secondhand smoke does affect me negatively....it apparently irritates my lungs for it triggers coughing and tightness and discomfort in my lungs. Like in the case of Lynn's wife, even a room which has previously been filled with smoke will set off an uncomfortable and unpleasant response. I wish that wasn't the case...but it is. If those who smoke had ever experienced like symptoms from any source, I doubt they would want to cause anyone such discomfort. I understand such a negative response may be hard to believe or understand for those who enjoy smoking. I appreciate people who are considerate and polite when they light up.

I agree with John R. Even though I would like my daughter to quit (I'd hate to outlive her), I respect her right to live as she pleases and I don't nag. She is content with the status quo so I guess that's what counts.

I wish the Oklahoman would have asked the question "Dou you think secondhand smoke is a problem?" Had they done so, the editors and publisher would find a large majority of people who believe the secondhand smoke issue has been controlled by the 2003 law. They might also find that both non-smokers and smokers alike are comfortable and satisfide with the law. No changes or further restricions are needed. If the non-smoking public would simply frequent smoke-free bars, hotels, restaurants, and other smoke-free choices, their world would be a better place.

Nope, secondhand smoke has not affected my health. The only thing that adversley affects my health is my ex-spouse.

My wife's asthma is triggered by other people's smoking. She also cannot stay in a hotel room when someone has smoked in it.

When I quit smoking in 1978 it wasn't because of my own health but because of my oldest daughters. She was having severe breathing problems and was sick a great deal. She was 13 and had been around my smoke all that time. The doctor finally said that I was killing my daughter with my smoke and one day she would just stop breathing. I quit immediately and haven't touched a cigarette since. I now live with my youngest daughter who is a smoker, but her 5-year-old has asthma so she has to smoke outside or in the garage. Some people are hyper-sensitive to smoke and others aren't. It's important that one know how it is affecting those around them and be considerate.

YES!!! I've been around it for 67 years and the scented cigars especially give me eye problems and headaches. Smoke of any type is very bothersome for me even if it is from cooking. A doctor wants me to sleep with an oxygen contraption.

No, I don't think smoking is healthy for anyone but I do think that the second hand smoke issue is just a bunch of guesturing (spelling???)
