Have we become an illogical society? “Companies cash job incentives despite layoffs” (Business, Sept. 29) says that since 2010, “six companies in the state have had mass layoffs while enrolled in the Quality Jobs Program — sometimes getting incentive payments from the state weeks before laying workers off, or continuing to get payments after layoffs.” To me, that sounds illogical. The government considers 18-year-old children mature enough to vote but considers them youthful enough to remain on their parent's health insurance until age 26. That, too, seems, illogical.
Possibly there should be more discussion on this topic. However, I suppose it would be illogical to assume that anyone would attend a meeting to discuss the question of whether we've become an illogical society. And even if they did attend, it would probably be illogical to assume that anything would happen as a result of the discussion.
