Most records kept by government agencies are considered open unless there is a specific exemption, but the opposite is true when it comes to law enforcement records.

The law spells out what law enforcement records are open and says all others can be kept confidential. This can make it difficult for those seeking information about law enforcement to find the information they need.

Join reporter Bryan Dean for a chat at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on NewsOK.com/WatchDog to discuss this issue.

You can join Bryan’s open record Q&A’s on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 2:30 p.m. and submit your questions about legislation and public access in Oklahoma.
