HB 1804 supporters plan fundraiser rally
Supporters of a controversial Oklahoma immigration law will rally on Saturday.
The Rule of Law Rally will begin at 2 p.m. at Character First Training Center, 520 W Main. Those attending are expected to show their support of HB 1804, most of which went into effect Nov. 1. Among other things, the law ends most state benefits for illegal immigrants and makes it a felony to harbor or transport someone not legally in the United States. Scheduled to speak are: Carol Helm of Immigration Reform for Oklahoma Now, Christian Heritage Academy ambassador Ralph Bullard and John Birch Society national immigration spokesman Sam Antonio. They will argue that HB 1804 is "just and morally correct,” organizers said. Oklahoma chapters of the John Birch Society, which is based in Appleton, Wis., will sponsor the rally. Tickets for the rally are $15 a person. Proceeds will benefit Immigration Reform for Oklahoma Now. For more information, call Clark Curry at 348-9991. By Brian Sargent, Staff Writer
