McALESTER -- Kaleb Stowers told his mother years before that he planned to drive his tractor to the prom.

The McAlester News-Capital said Stowers, 17, and a junior at Canadian High School, loaded his John Deere on a trailer and hauled it to his grandmother's house a short distance from the Scottish Rite Temple, where the Canadian High School prom was being held.

Then, dressed in his best clothes, he was off to the dance.

He went alone after plans changed a couple of days before the event and he was left without a date.

Driving the tractor is not new to him. In fact, he's been behind the wheel for some time. And, he's an award-winning tractor driver.

He raises his own cattle, as well as participating in school events and sports.

After a fun night at the prom with his friends, he drove his tractor back to his grandmother’s house, then went with his group to another gathering.
