Managing holiday stress

'Tis the season to be stressed! Especially if most of the “to dos” fall on your shoulders. We get so busy that instead of feeling gratitude for all that we have, we find ourselves focused on all that's missing. If this is you, then it's time to create new traditions. Your life is not a magazine cover and you are not Martha Stewart.

Begin with:

• Having realistic expectations — it is what it is.

• Taking time out for yourself. Walk away, breathe, relax.

• Limiting your “to dos.” Just say no.

• Enjoying the season, lights, music, movies, friends and family.

Registration for 5k opens

Registration is now open for the OKC NYD Blastoff 5K, which will be in downtown Oklahoma City on Jan. 1. The 5k starts at 9 a.m. at NW 5 and Harvey near the Downtown Post Office and the Oklahoma City National Memorial. Donations from this run benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the race.
