LUTHER (AP) — The Oklahoma City-County Health Department is offering tetanus shots for rescue workers, volunteers and residents of areas hit by wildfires.

The vaccinations will be available at Luther High School from 1:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday. The shots are also available at the department's office in Oklahoma City.
The health department says someone could contract tetanus by stepping on debris from fire-damaged structures. The bacteria enter the body through cuts and breaks in the skin. The bacteria is often found in soil, dust and manure and people can be infected by a deep puncture wound — like those made by nails.
Wildfires burned a section of the town over the weekend and officials suspect arson may be to blame.
