TAHLEQUAH — A judge has scheduled a July 9 preliminary hearing for an Oklahoma man accused of killing a Northeastern State University professor last year.
Joshua John Schneider is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree arson and three counts of larceny. He’s accused in the death of chemistry professor Tiffany Maher.
A probable cause affidavit alleges that Schneider met Maher through an online dating website. The affidavit claims that Schneider killed Maher, then set her body and house on fire.
A local newspaper reports that Schneider entered a not guilty plea to the charges Wednesday. Schneider was brought to Tahlequah from his state prison cell in Holdenville, where he’s serving a 15-year prison sentence on separate charges.
