The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals is set to hear oral arguments in the felony bribery case against former state Rep. Randy Terrill of Moore and state Sen. Debbe Leftwich of Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma County prosecutors are appealing a district court judge's denial to also bind the former lawmakers over for trial on a related conspiracy charge.
Following a preliminary hearing last year, a judge ruled there was sufficient evidence to try Terrill and Leftwich for bribery but not conspiracy.
Prosecutors claim Terrill and Leftwich were part of a scheme to set Leftwich up in an $80,000-a-year state job so a Republican colleague of Terrill's could run for her open seat. Both deny the allegations but face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
