— The past few weeks have been wild for Westmoore’s DeShawn Lookout.

He completed his sophomore season on the baseball field for the Jaguars with a semifinal finish before recently turning heads with his announcement that he intends to play both baseball and football at Oklahoma.

Then last week he was at the Junior National Showcase for Perfect Game in Fort Myers, Fla.

This week, he’ll get a chance to represent Oklahoma in the fifth annual Heartland Classic, which begins Tuesday at both Norman high schools and at Southmoore.

“This tournament is going to be fun,” Lookout said. “I’ve played with a lot of these guys before, so it’s going to be fun.”

Indeed, Lookout is familiar with some of his teammates.

Westmoore’s Hunter Southerland and Kyle Tyler are both on Oklahoma’s roster. Both are also verbally committed to the Sooners.

Lookout also said he plays summer ball on the Sandlot with Carl Albert’s Riley Cabral.

That should add a level of comfort for the future star, who is the younger brother of The Oklahoman’s Slowpitch Softball Player of the Year Destinie Lookout.

This season, he set the school record for batting average after hitting .491. He also hit six home runs, 15 doubles and drove in 39 runs.
