Heartland Classic: Westmoore standout DeShawn Lookout plans to play baseball and football at Oklahoma

The past few weeks have been wild for Westmoore’s DeShawn Lookout. This week, he’ll get a chance to represent Oklahoma in the fifth annual Heartland Classic, which begins Tuesday at both Norman high schools and at Southmoore.

So, it was easy for the Sooners to come make a baseball offer, and it appears he may get a chance to play football.

“It’s more of a baseball offer,” he said. “Both coaches are fine with it. I talked to Josh Heupel and he said he’s good. I talked to Coach (Pete) Hughes and he’s already talked to Heupel about it and they both agreed it’s fine.”

The Heartland Classic runs through Saturday. Pool play ends Thursday night and determines the bracket for Friday and Saturday. The final day of games will be played at OU’s L. Dale Mitchell Park.

And if it goes right, Lookout will get a chance to continue his whirlwind summer and turn some more heads.

“I want to get my name out there,” he said. “Yeah, I’m committed but I want to see what I can get as far as scholarships and stuff.”
