A Lindsay woman, Marietta Jean Lacy, 77, was found dead about 2 p.m. Wednesday in her home when a Meals on Wheels volunteer came to bring her lunch, Lindsay police Detective Robert Brooks said.

Brooks said the air conditioner was off and thermometers in the house showed it was between 98 and 100 degrees inside.

An 87-year-old Oklahoma City woman was found dead Thursday in her home after a neighbor noticed the woman had not been picking up her newspaper, said Kevin Rowland, chief investigator for the state medical examiner’s office. The victim’s air conditioning had gone out the day before.

A 79-year-old Wilburton man succumbed to heat Wednesday while burning grass at a local cemetery, Rowland said.

A 72-year-old Gore man was found dead Wednesday inside his travel trailer, which was not air-conditioned.

Rowland said all four deaths were caused by excessive heat, bringing the number of Oklahomans who have died during a week of triple-digit temperatures to six since July 13.

Raymond Patterson, 76, of Oklahoma City was found dead Sunday. Rowland said the man’s air conditioner was broken.

Harriett Stahl, 62, of The Village was discovered dead Monday. Stahl’s air conditioner had not been turned on, Rowland said.
