Heat may hit 103 today in Oklahoma City

As temperatures soar over the century mark in central Oklahoma, excessive heat continues to plague eastern and northeastern parts of the state.

As temperatures soar over the century mark in central Oklahoma, excessive heat continues to plague eastern and northeastern parts of the state.

A high of 103 is expected in Oklahoma City today, but 20 mph wind gusts could help a bit as humidity levels are expected to be lower than eastern Oklahoma, the National Weather Service reports.

Due to heat and humidity combined, an excessive heat warning is in effect for the Tulsa area through 7 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service reports. The warning includes, Tulsa, Rogers, Wagoner and Sequoyah counties.

The forecast for the Oklahoma City area this week is as follows:

Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 103. South, southwest wind between 7 and 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tonight: Clear with a low around 78. South wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot with a high near 103. Heat index values as high as 106. South, southwest wind between 9 and 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday Night: Clear with a low around 78. South wind between 9 and 13 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 101. South, southwest wind between 7 and 13 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy with a low around 78.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 99.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy with a low around 77.

Friday: Sunny and hot with a high near 100.

Friday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 75.

Saturday: Sunny and hot with a high near 99.
