The band director for Hefner Middle School was arrested Wednesday on complaints of possession and distribution of child pornography, authorities said.

Eric W. Mowery, 38, was arrested at his home, 12808 Brandon Place, following an undercover investigation by a Guthrie police officer into sharing child pornography online, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.

He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on six complaints of possession of child pornography complaints, a complaint of distribution of child pornography and one Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act violation, Brown said.

Several items were seized from his home, and an on-scene preview revealed child pornography on at least six items, she said.

Mowery was hired by Putnam City Schools in August 2010. He also assisted the Putnam City North high school band, school spokesman Steve Lindley said.

None of the images appear to be of local children, Brown said. No allegations concerning inappropriate conduct with students have been alleged, Lindley said, but anyone with information is asked to call Putnam City campus police at 787-3621.
