That someone was Florida quarterback
Tim Tebow, introducing himself with a big smile.
On the day they officially learned they were heading to
New York this weekend for the
Heisman Trophy presentation, the two standout quarterbacks who will eventually meet on the field in the BCS National Championship Jan. 8 finally met in person.
"Obviously that was something I was looking forward to on this trip,” Bradford said of meeting Tebow, last year’s Heisman winner. "Just getting to talk to him and seeing how he does things.”
Both quarterbacks were in Orlando for tonight’s
Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards, which will air live beginning at 6:30 on
ESPN.
Bradford is a finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, given to the best quarterback; Tebow is a finalist for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the best all-around player.
Even Oklahoma State punter
Matt Fodge was star struck.
"It’s unbelievable,” said Fodge, a Ray Guy Award finalist for best punter. "To be around all these superstars is pretty overwhelming.”
While many of college football’s top players attended Wednesday’s media gathering — which featured OSU Biletnikoff finalist
Dez Bryant and OU Outland Trophy finalist
Duke Robinson — Bradford and Tebow were the main events.
Bradford, who turned 21 last month, is still adapting to his newfound celebrity status.
But Tebow, in the national spotlight since high school, clearly adapted to it long ago.
Wednesday, Tebow stayed in the interview room way past when he was scheduled to leave, talking with reporters and other players, even approaching Bradford in the middle of a photo shoot.
"I’m just enjoying this,” Tebow said. "I’m focused on Oklahoma and trying to win the national championship, but enjoying the opportunity and the privilege of the Heisman and everything that means.”

big time defensive guys came to a halt, now it's just offense. We had two coming back this
year but opted for the pro's. OU doesn't seem to have, anymore, the loyalty by it's players to
the team and tradition that it once had. I guess thats a sign of the times with Stoop's teams.
I guess when you recruit players and present the notion to them that if they do really well in
their first two or three years they can go out early, all this team and school kind of goes
by the wayside. The Great and Powerful "dollar" has spoken, so the players just click
their heels together while repeating, "theirs no place like the pro's" . Out of the 3 that left
only one is a real pro, the others are roster fodder.
Wonder where ol' Sam and Tim would size up there? I'm sure Sam would have the edge.
Play smart!
go sONErs!!!
