MOORE — One might wonder if elementary schoolchildren know who Jason White is, but their roar of excitement Wednesday proved convincing.

The Heisman Trophy winner and former University of Oklahoma football player was at Heritage Trails Elementary School in Moore, helping to kick off a school fundraiser. He spoke during a morning assembly to most of the school's 637 students.
"Dream big and don't forget, no matter how many speed bumps get in your way, just keep going and you'll eventually get to your goal someday," White told the students.
Heritage Trails is one of two Moore elementary schools that opened this year. White initially was asked to speak at the school's ribbon-cutting ceremony several weeks ago, but couldn't because of a schedule conflict. He came Wednesday instead.
