Reception: Ann Cameron, Oklahoma Mother of The Year; Stephanie Brady, Oklahoma Young Mother, and Edie Roodman, Oklahoma Mother of Achievement, were honored at a reception at the state Capitol. Following the reception, Gov. Mary Fallin introduced the honorees in the Senate Assembly Room.
Speakers: Fallin and Connell Branan, president of the Oklahoma Mothers Association, were speakers and the mothers received citations from their legislators and pins from the national organization.
Recognized: The honorees were also recognized in the state Senate.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY
Pretty in pink: Cindy Rice was honored at a birthday party in the home of Judy Love. Hostesses were Love, Barbara Brou, Terry Bradley, Mary Lou Ille, Gayle Semtner and Sylvia Slater. On the invitation was a picture of Cindy wearing pink and standing in front of her pink Cadillac.
What shall I wear: Guests were asked to wear pink. And they did. They wore pink jewelry, pink scarves, pink dresses, pink shoes and they carried pink purses. The honoree had on pink satin slacks and pink shoes, along with a white top. Love wore a hot pink dress; Brou had on a pale pink blouse and slacks; Bradley had on a white dress with pink flowers, and Semtner wore a pink and black polka dot shirt with black slacks. Ille wore a pink sweater, and Slater wore a pink blouse and pink jewelry. Judy McDowell and Ginny Foster wore pink feather boas and brought the Rice a pink license plate for her car. The hostesses’ gift to Rice was a Judith Ripka cross with a pink stone in the center.
Menu: A pink-colored chicken casserole was served.
Centerpieces: Four bundt cakes with pink roses and pink Gerber daisies in the center served as the centerpiece.
In the pink: Among the guests were Valerie Oakley, Linda Bradley, Susan Johnston, Sandy Shapard, Sue Nix, Judy McGrath, Joanne Hoch and Eileen Williams.
Luncheon: Pam Shdeed and Charlotte Richels were hostesses for a party in the Shdeed home honoring Lois Salmeron who has been appointed the Oklahoma City University Dean of the Kramer School of Science.
Guests: Close friends of the honoree and also supporters of Kramer School attended the party, including John Salmeron, Jane Jayroe Gamble, Robert Henry, Linda Lambert, Martha Burger, Brenda McDaniel, Jose Freede, Judy Love and Nancy Moore.
On the program: Speakers included Robert Henry, OCU president; Bill Shdeed, OCU board member; and LaDonna Meinders, whose parents are the Kramers after which the school is named.
School colors: Bouquets of blue and white hydrangeas decorated the Shdeed home and mini-cupcakes also featured OCU blue.
WELCOME NEW PROVISIONALS
Reception: 137 new Junior League provisionals were welcomed at a reception at JL Headquarters. Meeting them at the door was Provisional, Admissions and Training (PAT) Chairman and Vice Chairmen, Kelli Hayward and Amy McDougal. President and President-Elect Kristen Brown and Kristi Leonard greeted the new provisionals and their sponsors.
Guests: Among the guests were active and sustaining members, including Jamie Maddy, Mandy Heaps, Jenifer Stehr, Linda Garrett, Jeanie Butts, Leslie Littlejohn, Allison Williams, Ashley Gardner, Emily Cole, Blair Bradley and Carlisha Williams.
The buzz: The new class will begin its provisional course in June.
Dinner: Chris Keesee was host for a spring dinner on the fourth floor of the Kirkpatrick Foundation Building. The event, for Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center, served as a celebration of the announcement of Rand Elliott, Elliot +Associates, as the architect for OCA’s new building at 11th and Broadway. The dinner was catered by Cheever’s and featured a three-piece string quartet.
TRI DELTA LUNCHEON
Event: Members of the Tri Delta Golden Circle Alumni Group met at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club for the spring luncheon. Sonja Pellow, chairman, was hostess.
New members: The eight new 50-year members are Barbara Dahnke, Judy Ferguson, Lynda Gipson, Nancy Graham, Kanela Huff, Joyce Moran, Jane Wooten and Dot Blew.
Table decorations: Easter baskets and colorful butterfly and flower confetti decorated the tables.
Program: Reports from alumni advisers and officers from the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University were given. Linda Lowe was recognized as the Golden Circle Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for 2013-14.
Guests: Among others at the luncheon were Nina Barker, OKC Alumni president, and Kacey Luster, president-elect; Ashley Simpson, OSU Alumnae adviser, and Claire Robison, Art With A Heart co-chairman.
DAR STATE CONFERENCE
What/where: The 105th Annual State Conference of DAR was held in Norman and hosts were members of the Capital District. Theme was “A Gathering of Eagles.” DAR members met to celebrate accomplishments and to hear reports from officers and chairmen.
Guests: Among the guests were Peggy Troxell, North Carolina regent, and Barbara Zink, Kentucky regent.
