Party: A dinner and miscellaneous shower was given for Lindsay Hightower and Jeff Graham by Candy and Chuck Ainsworth, Shirley and Pete Everest, Jan and Richard Parker, Steve Parker, Susan Parker, Drew Neville, Libby and Morton Payne and Christy and Jim Everest in the Everest home. Tables were set up outside around the swimming pool.
Gift: The hosts gave the engaged couple a Juliska blue and white ginger jar filled with flowers.
MEETING AND GREETING
Event: The Junior League Provisional Welcome Celebration was held at JL Headquarters, and the group welcomed 84 new members and their sponsors. The Provisional course began orientation Thursday. Blair Bradley is provisional admissions and training chairman and she and her committee and members of both the sitting and incoming board of directors attended the party. Cristi Reiger and Kristen Brown welcomed guests at the front door.
Seen: Jamie Maddy, Ashley Jackson, Ann-Clore Duncan, Mei Cheng, Whitney Tero, Patty Anthony, Kristen Rupert, Amy McDougall, Jane Elliott, Lindsey Fixley, Lauren Anthony, Amy Parrish and Kristi Leonard were at the party.
Event: Volunteers were recognized at the annual Volunteer Recognition ceremony for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) at The Oklahoma History Center.
Speaker: Sheree Powell was the speaker, and masters of ceremonies were the Oklahoma County Judge Roger H. Stuart and Lee Ann Limber.
Awards: Award winners were Lois Waechter, Rookie Advocate of the Year; Jane Davis, Advocate of the Year; Lori Blumnethal, Nance Diamond Award; Elizabeth Muller, Vin Showers Compassionate Heart Award; Janie Sylvester, Rena Ellis Lifetime Achievement Award; Keith Carter, Board Member of the Year; Will Calvo, Friend of CASA Award; Rebecca McNeese, Standards in Excellence Award; Lola Hall, Dedicated Staff Member Award; Jazzmon Kennerson and Annabelle Scranton, Buddy Faye Foster Courtroom Excellence Award. Five- and 10-year service awards were also given.
Debut: A video marking 25 years of serving Oklahoma County children was shown for the first time.
Event: The Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County Jeremiah Milbank Society Awards reception was held at the JRB Art at the Elms Gallery. Fifty people attended and Iguana Grill provided appetizers.
Highlights: Boys and Girls Club President and CEO Jane Sutter gave awards to Leigh Ann and Paul Albers, Laurie and Charlie Givens and Nancy and Dr. Bob Ellis. The three couples were initiated into the Jeremiah Milbank Society, which is a national gift -giving society through the Boys and Girls Club for donors who contribute more than $10,000 to a club's general operating fund annually. Linda Mares told about how the Boys and Girls Club helped her when she as a teenager in Houston.
Plaque: The honorees received plaques with pictures of the Boys & Girls Club members.
PRESIDENT'S TROPHY AWARDS
Luncheon: University of Oklahoma outstanding students and housing and Greek organizations were honored at the President's Trophy Awards luncheon in the Sandy Bell Gallery of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art in Norman. OU President David L. Boren presented the awards to students and organizations for excellence in academics, campus activities, volunteerism and multicultural participation. Crimson Club, the ambassador organization composed of OU student leaders, coordinated the competition.
Winners: Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and Adams Center Housing won the President's Trophy. Other winners were Rosemarie Zanabria and Helga Skaftason, Outstanding Commuter Students.
