Event: Bobbie Miller's friends, Adrianna Iwasinski and Joleen Chaney, were hostesses for a baby shower at Sophabella's Restaurant. It was for Bobbie and Kendall Miller's third child scheduled to be born in September.
Need to know: Instead of asking for gifts for herself and her new baby, Miller teamed up with Infant Crisis Services for a diaper drive. She had asked the public to donate diapers as well. “It was the perfect opportunity to shower the Infant Crisis Center,” Miller said. “I love babies and this will be our third child to be blessed with, so it was time to shower others.”
The tally: A truck was set up outside the restaurant, and 5,500 diapers were collected for ICS babies up to 6 months.
Shower decor: There was a four-tier diaper cake decorated with pink baby accessories (the baby is a girl). Guests signed a mat which will go in a white Victorian frame for the baby's room; that was the hostesses' gift to the honoree. On the menu besides quiche and salad was a bright pink marble cake.
Open house: Oklahoma Breast Care Center staff and physicians hosted an open house to show the center's new breast tomosynthesis diagnosis and screening technology. Breast tomosynthesis is 3-D digital mammogram equipment for finding early cancer.
Menu: Cheever's Catering provided roasted artichoke hearts, fortune cookies, Brie and peach compote, pink glitter truffles, pink snowballs, pink lemonade and pink champagne. Guests were given pink ribbons to wear in support of breast cancer awareness.
