Occasion: Junior League President Kristen Brown was hostess for a party honoring the appointment of league president-elect-elect Nazette Zuhdi Cleaver, and the incoming board of directors. JL president-elect Kristi Leonard was also honored.

JULIANA AND SPENCER
Party: Juliana Samara and Spencer Simon were honorees at a cocktail buffet and miscellaneous shower in the home of Karen and Mike Samis. Co-hosts were Barbara and Bud Beeler, Kathy and Hal Brown, Shirley and Pete Everest, Laurie and Charlie Givens, Susan and Peter Hoffman, Linda and Tom Klos, Kent Potter, Mary Kay and Bobby Samis.
Theme: The evening's theme was Moroccan-inspired. Candlelit brass Moroccan lanterns and roses decorated the buffet table and the menu was Moroccan Beef Tangine with spicy yogurt sauce, Mediterranean chicken, saffron rice with barberries and orange zest, tomato, cucumber and red onion salad with feta cheese, sauteed sugar snap peas and Haricot Vert (green beans). Desserts were almond-filled cookies and mocha madeleines.

The buzz: The party was postponed due to icy weather, and the next time it was scheduled, it was another cold day. Guests were served cups of warm tomato soup, assorted finger sandwiches, fresh fruit and cheeses and petits fours.
Gifts: The hostess gave the bride-to-be a silver metal Christmas tree decorated with white lovebird ornaments. Guests brought a wide variety of crystal, glass and handmade ornaments, Christmas china, musical snow globes, a needlepoint Christmas pillow and a metallic gold Christmas tree decorated with a special collection of wedding ornaments.
Takeaway treats: Guests were given individual bottles of Champagne wrapped in white tulle.

ARTNOW 2014 GALA
Event: Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center celebrated its 25th anniversary with the ArtNow 2014 Gala. Theme was “Shine” and guests viewed artwork of 33 Oklahoma artists, some using the Shine theme in a range of paintings, drawings, printmaking, fiber, wood, mixed media, photography and sculpture. John Seward was guest curator.
Food/flowers/music: About 400 people attended the event and food was provided by The Metro, Picasso's, Back Yard Barbecue, Mutts and Big Truck Taco. Flowers were by A Date With Iris. Music was by disc jockey Josh DeLozier.
FIRST OPENING EXHIBIT
What: Oklahoma City Community College administration, faculty, staff, alumni, students and donors were hosts for the first Opening Exhibit in the Inasmuch Foundation Gallery in the new Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater. The event featured the artwork of Desmond Mason.
Guests: Among those there were OCCC President Paul Sechrist, OCCC board of regents and community leaders.
