Debutante ball: Elizabeth Lee Mitchell, daughter of Amy and Malone Mitchell III of Dallas and an Oklahoma State University student, was presented at the 58th International Debutante Ball in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. She was one of 47 women from 15 states and she represented Texas. Other debutantes represented China, England, France, The Netherlands and Scotland. At OSU, Elizabeth Mitchell is a member of Chi Omega sorority where she is co-philanthropy chairman, assistant homecoming coordinator and member of the Dance Marathon to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is active in intramural sports. She is a member of OSU's Student Foundation, a candidate for the National Honor Society and Society of Collegiate Scholars. She is a board member of the Pinon Foundation.
Dress: For her debut, she wore a dress designed by Augusta Jones for Stardust Celebrations of Dallas. The strapless dress was made of silk organza and had a sweetheart neckline. The skirt was delicately embellished with bias cut silk organza ribbons. The waistline was emphasized with a Swarovski crystal and pearl sash.
The evening: There was a receiving line and cocktails were served. After dinner and dancing, debutantes were presented and they were accompanied by a civilian escort in white tie and a young man from one of the U.S. Armed Forces academies who carried her state flag.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTH
Party: Ruth Bunnell celebrated her 100th birthday at Grace Living Center in Bethany. She was honored by her children, Nettie Stroud, Martha Shearer, Lenna LeCrone and Ray Bunnell Jr. Co-hostesses were granddaughters Paula Troutman, Eunice Weiszbrod, Virginia Roach, Debbie Shay and Gina Jackson. She has lived in Oklahoma City for 59 years.
Cards and cake: The honoree received 100 birthday cards. The 80 guests enjoyed finger foods and birthday cake.
Seen: Ruth Bunnell was one of 11 children and the only surviving sibling, Harriet Lipps, of Schertz, Texas, was at the party.
