AHOY, ME HEARTIES!
Party: Mary Ellen Meredith and Samonia Lee and Dennis Byford teamed up for the annual Pirates Party in their home. The “old salts” have been hosting the party for nine years. The holiday party between Christmas and New Years is a longstanding tradition in their family. When Meredith was redecorating, she was given a globe-shaped bar and a couple of candlesticks that she thought looked like something a retired pirate might have, thus leading to the Christmas Pirates Party. The Rum Fellows from Norman played pirate music, folk songs, Celtic tunes and drinking songs for the crowd.
Decor: Pirate decorations included Jolly Roger flags, chests of doubloons, a wreath with crossed swords and a welcome mat with skull and crossbones. A large pirate with a hook for his hand stood on the front porch. Also by the front door was a basket of eye patches, pirates' hats and other costuming for those did not come in costume but wanted to dress appropriately.
Menu: Seafood, including shrimp and calamari, was on the menu.
Seen: Lou Kerr, Kathy and Dan Provo, Barbara and Ben Harjo, Bonnie and Bert Seabourn, Ann and John Marshall, Barbara and John Nichols, Judy and Bill Phillips, Peg Malloy, Beth and Jim Tolbert, Ann Ackerman, Debbie and Bob Blackburn, America Meredith, Lisa and Jeff McConnell, Sherry Sullivan, Ramona and Homer Paul, Daniel Byford and Michael Byford.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
Who/what/where: Holly and Clay Healey were hosts for their annual Christmas Party in their home. Red lights, red roses and red dresses set the tone for the event and men were invited to wear jeans and white shirts and women “to simply be divine.”
How: Special holiday drinks included “Inner Goddess” in fancy flutes and “Charlie Tango,” a dark rum mojito. On the menu was a grass-fed coffee-rubbed tenderloin from the Flying L Ranch prepared by the Metro Restaurant crew.
At the party: Valerie and Elizabeth Farabee, Carol, Andrew, John and Anne Solomon, Eleanor and Kelsey Bryant, Beth and Travis Hamilton, Natalie and Chad Stanford, Melinda and Paul Cox, Lela and Mark Sullivan, Candy and Chuck Ainsworth, Connell and Cliff Branan, Renee and Steve Knox, Lillie-Beth Brinkman, Marta and Mark McCubbin, Becky and David McCubbin, Penelope and Nabil Strouji, Chase Healey, Trey Healey and Melissa Spears.
Holiday shower: Jennie Noland and David Evans were honorees at a couple's ornament shower given by Christina and Mat Thompson and Ann and Bob Gilliland in the Gilliland home.
Gifts: The engaged couple, who will be married in March, received ornaments such as gold pine cones, crystal reindeers and OU.
Menu: Chicken and beef fajitas were served along with ornament-shaped cookies.
Guests: Paula Love, Reagan Bratcher, John Fritch, Jeff Snyder, Tina and Scott James, Weneva and Mark Edge, Beth and Shorrie Ward, Nicole Thomas and Nick Barlas.
